Define Problems through Gaps Identification

Problem trying to solve: Immigrants in Sweden who worked as craftsmen in their homeland are unable to practice or find their crafts. These reasons have hindered process of integration in Swedish society and labour market. This also will put the traditional crafts in danger of extinction especially crafts of war zones countries.

According to all mentioned above, I conducted unstructured interviews with 10 Syrian craftsmen to listen to their stories, difficulties and gain information about their needs to achieve the required integration into society and labor markrt. I also published a survey in two facebook groups that involve about 10 000 immigrans living in Sweden. Hundreds of them participated in survey and results showed a large number of them are having difficulties to find their crafts and confirmed their need of information and to get in touch with companies and stakeholders in more accessible ways.

Immigrants needs through gaps identification according to Dirksen, 2015:

Information the immigrants need to know, what to do with that knowledge, when to use, what format to support them.
Skills the immigrants need to practice, Develop proficiency, and opportunities to practice
Environment which support the immigrats craftsmen to be successful
Communicate goals and direction
