Glass Art in Sweden (the Kingdom of Crystal)

To talk about Swedish traditional crafts it is important to start with the Glass Art.  Sweden is known for fine crystal and decorative glass especially  in the region of Småland since 1742. In this city you can  learn about the traditions of glassmaking and visit places full of glass art. At that time, the prevalent glass works were  window glass, bottles, and tableware for the royal households, chandeliers for churches and manor houses. With the growing industrialization of Sweden, the demand for glass grew, and numerous other glassworks were established in the area (Imported from real Scandinavia Website). Also visit the kingdom of Crystal.  See below the glass art making in both Syria and Sweden.

n the 20th century, Swedish and Danish potteries produced both tableware and art pottery for their customers. In general, pieces produced in Sweden in the first half of the century have strong Art Nouveau and Art Deco influences, while Danish ceramics had a modernist aesthetic even before the Mid-Century Modern movement took hold after World War II. The largest ceramics factory in Sweden was Gustavsberg, whose leading designer at the end of the 19th and through the first half of the 20th centuries was Josef Ekberg. Early Ekberg vases featured floral and Art Nouveau decorations using the sgrafitto technique. Later pieces from the 1920s had less decoration but were often fired in iridescent glazes (Information imported from Collectors Weekly website)

Syrian Mosaic Artist Describing his Craft in Syria before War

Our Company in Syria started 15 years ago and it was so popular Damascus.  So it is somehow an inherited family craft. I and my brother had shops every one of us work for his own but the material belong to my father company. In my shop I had ready to buy works and also customers can choose any design for their place so I go there and work as an interior designer (wall and floor decoration, stone rugs, pictures, tables and mirrors, chairs etc). Our work is completely to design with art, ir is to integrate art with furniture and walls decoration. But in galleries and workshops we share artistic wall decoration. I also worked as a mosaic teacher for five years. These works made of small natural marble usually but we use  glass and ceramic stones next to each other to compose any picture  or part of place the customer wants  change. for ex: hotels, offices, restaurants, schools, shops, swimming pools, streets and houses.
